FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: List

WHO ARE YOU BRO?

My name is Brian Recca. A 30 year old baseball/Giant fan from New Jersey

WHY DID YOU START FOLLOWING THE DRAFT?

I think there were a couple of factors. I developed a love of following MLB prospects while I was in high school. I bought my first Baseball America Handbook in 2007 and never looked back. Over time, I started to get a little familiar with amateur prospects. I realized there was a ton of great baseball at the high school and college level and decided to dive deeper and deeper. Now I'm here.

I also have a deep interest in fantasy sports. I've been playing yearly and daily fantasy sports for years and years. What's the best part of fantasy? The draft. I think a lot of my interest in the MLB draft stems from my love of fantasy sports and drafting in general.

ARE YOU A SCOUT?

Nope! I actually work in special education and am currently pursuing my master's in applied behavior analysis. It's one of the few things I'm more passionate about than baseball.

I don't claim to be an expert at scouting, but I do like to believe that I've developed some knowledge from doing this over the years. At the end of the day I'm just a baseball fan with a niche interest.

IF YOU AREN'T A SCOUT WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO YOU?

You don't have to. Doing this is a hobby of mine. It wouldn't matter if my audience was 1 million people or just 1 person. I love talking baseball and sharing whatever knowledge I have with the outside world.

WHERE DOES YOUR INFO COME FROM?

All over the place. Youtube, Twitter, watching games online/on TV, in-person viewing, and various publications/websites. I'm always on the lookout for more information that I can use to improve my analysis. There are a ton of talented people who provide scouting and player info, video, and data that I use to form my own opinions on draft prospects.

WHO IS MY TEAM DRAFTING?

No clue. One of the disadvantages of being "on the outside" is I don't have sources in organizations to answer such questions. All I can do is form an educated guess based on past trends and public information about what certain teams look for and value. Doing this for a decade now, I've developed a base of knowledge that has allowed me to get a feel for what teams are thinking and trying to do through the draft and with their player development programs
